BRIDESMAIDS

Immersive Film Screening

53Two
11 / 03 / 17

After the sellout success of our first event, we returned to Wonder Women festival with an immersive screening of the hit female comedy Bridesmaids!

Described as "somewhere between the Suffragettes and the Sugababes" our signature silliness and celebration are rooted in everyday activism and personal politics for women of all ages. Girl Gang Manchester #2: Bridesmaids celebrates, analyses and sends up female friendships, competitiveness and wedding culture. Don't miss the wedding of the year!

The event featured Lillian's Parisian themed Bridal shower and the wedding reception in our beautifully decorated venue with hand made decor and extravagant design. Workshops included;

~"Seeing you look ugly kind of makes me happy!" Kicking competitiveness sisterhood workshop to work on seeing other women as allies not competition from Workshops for Women

~"You're your problem but also your solution too" Self worth and healthy relationships workshop to improve self esteem and avoid toxic relationships. With Martha Chastney-Smith.

~"My eggs are wet!" comedy improvisation workshop with Comedysportz

~Fascinator making - make your own fascinator, cut down wedding costs and get creative with Ostentatia

Alongside these there were stalls and drop in workshops such as 'Cake Baby' by Nicely Kitchen, Nails by Hannah Leach, paper flower making with Handmade Cinema, self love locks, chocloate fountains, table tennis tournament, photobooth and incredible portraits by Buttercrumble, as well as the film and performances by Pull Your Finger Out Productions.

An academic film introduction from Dr Kirsty Fairclough on the power of funny women, female friendships, having your shit together and the license to be crude was a great beginning to the screening part of the night.

After party DJ-ed by DJ Pat Butcher - part of Sister Sister DJ Collective.

Film by Everyday People Films.
